X34 freezing, restarting, and BSODs

Windows 10 64-bit and strix 980ti

Pc had no problems with old monitor.

X34 is causing games to freeze, restart PC, and some times bsod.

I've had "irql_not_less_or_equal" bsod a few times.

I've reinstalled drivers, tried older drivers, switched DisplayPort cables, and reverted back to no g sync/60hz and still doing it. Seems to be getting more frequent actually.

Going to hook it up via hdmi later and see if it still does it.

    Gpu isn't overclocked.

I turned off g sync and it played fine for a few hours.

So I turned g sync back on expecting it to crash and it hasn't yet.

Not sure what's happening but turning g sync off and on worked so far.

On a side note, be careful with DisplayPort cables, had a "premium" one from microcenter that had the 20th pin which is power.... It kept my fans and LEDs on when I turned it off.

I think that might have been the cause but it kept happening after I changed it until turning off g sync.

    Is you gtx980ti overclocked?

What resolution did you come from?

It is likely to be graphics card issue due to the extra workload required to run the extra pixel count.

Mine was rocksolid stable at 1080p and 1440p at 1500Hz, but caused issues at 4K, dialled my overclock back a bit and no more issues now running at 1468Hz with extra voltage.

I can't think of any way that a monitor can cause BSODs, so the extra work to run the monitor is the most likely thing causing issues, with something in the hardware, most likely the graphics card.
