Aspire 5742G Windows 10 GPU Issue

Member Posts: 2 New User

Hello everyone, I own an Aspire 5742G and it perfectly runs Windows 10, but I'm having GPU issues. I can't launch any game at all. I contacted NVIDIA and they told me that Acer is the one who decides whether a laptop gets the upgrades or not. I have a GeForce GT 520M and it's on the supported graphic cards list. Isn't it unfair that I can't get the proper driver updates, just because Acer wants so? My PC runs completely fine, why wouldn't I want to upgrade to Windows 10? Isn't there anything I can do about it?

If you don't have optimus I don't see why you wouldn't just install the latest drivers from nvidia website?

It was the first thing I did as soon as I upgraded to Windows 10. Installation went completely fine, I even get the updates. The problem is I can't run any games at all, somehow I always get a black screen or crash reports.

Did you try going into BIOS and setting the graphics to DISCRETE and see if that helps?
