Hi,

I cannot find any advanced settings in the BIOS.

Need that amd-v enabled to run VirtualBox.

Check bios-mods.com.  Having the same issue with my acer 5532 right now.  Someone did have cracked bios that unlocked some advanced cpu settings that weren't avaialble from the OE bios like c1e and svm (enable/disable), but didn't have the option to turn on virtualization like I needed.

Again, there is some risk involved using a 3rd party modified bios.  You could damage your machine if the flash is corrupt, or if you make changes to settings that were probably locked for a reason by the manufacturer.

check if your CPU is AMD-V enabled

if your CPU supports it, probably the BIOS has this function locked; you need to find someone able to help you unlock.

be aware that flashing non official BIOS can brick your device.

    thanks for your reply ...

My CPU supports it but it does not show up in the BIOS settings.

This will be tricky, for sure.

Hopefully someone comes up with a solution...

    thanks

thanks, that's good info, but I think it is too risky, especially with my old machine.

I will keep it as it is and life in peace ;-)

ACER support sucks totally, luckily this forum exists.

    thanks everybody for your input
