I bought a aspire e5-772g-76ed. It doesn't have a optical drive. What model optical drive will work with this, and where can i get a bezel?

    You cannot install a optical drive due to the limit of space. None will be able to fit. I suggest you get a external one by usb, such as here on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Electronics-External-Optical-Drives/zgbs/electronics/1292112011

    Sure you can do it yourself, if you can find the right parts, you run a huge risk of breaking your warranty though. And it can destroy your computer if it breaks loose. If you really want to do it, go ask Acer Support.

    Hi whitmore55,

    First you can check if your laptop is equipped with a ODD/SATA connector:

    1. Unscrew the screw located on the bottom (see attachment).
    2. Remove the dummy ODD.
    3. You should see a connector in the bottom of the housing.

    Just a curious question, where do you find these resources? And why is there a dummy ODD in there?

    I checked it last night. There's no odd/sata connector.

    @whitmore55:

    It is possible to install an ODD module but you should disassemble a part of your laptop:

    Upper case with the keyboard, ribbon cables to install the ODD cable.

    As your laptop is under warranty, it's at your own risk . I have all part numbers for this modification.

    I've been debating about voiding the warranty since I bought it, but I would like the parts list just in case I finding decide if I care enough about it or not.
