XB271HU - how can I tell - IPS-glow/BLB - Return it?

Greetings!

I recently purchased an Acer XB271HU and I quite enjoy the screen even though I've only had it for 2 days now.

However, this is my first IPS-screen, and I'm having trouble identifying IPS-glow and/or backlight bleed. Below are pictures of my screen while viewing a completely black screen. I've been told to wait until I've used the screen at least 100 hours before returning it, but then again I'm not too sure what kind of a problem I have, I only know for sure that I have a problem because I picked up on it as soon as I turned it on and... well, I'm here writing about it so obviously it is an issue.

The screen is in its default mode, I have not touched anything so far, and I've been told you're supposed to tweak it a little bit in terms of colour, brightness etc to get the most out of the screen, and I'm pretty sure this will increase my problem with whatever it is, BLB/IPS-glow. But then again - what do I have?

The pictures below capture the problem in its essence quite well, except what is visible in the upper right corner. To the naked eye there is no "bleed"/"ips-glow" that I can pick up in that corner, but the camera is. However the corner on the bottom right side represents pretty much what I can pick up with my eyes, with the bottom left corner also showing a problem, and the upper left corner showing a little bit too much on the picture, but it is still a visible issue there too, to the naked eye.

The first picture don't do it justice because it doesn't look quite as bad in real life, but the bottom right corner is pretty much 90% of what I experience with my eye, and when buying a screen for $1000 (8700SEK) you kind of expect to get a seemless experience for that kind of money, and not something like this.

The second picture captures the bottom right corner pretty much as how I perceive it in real life - is this really acceptable for a thousand dollar-screen? edit: It also captures a small "bleed"/"ips-glow" in the center of the screen, in the bottom, very much as how I perceieve it in real life.

So - what do I have? And should I return it? Is it justified? I've read some reports from people who have had 4-5 screens replaced and for each screen the problem kept getting worse.

Suggestions?

    Hi,

Generally IPS glow will reduce/dissapear  when you change your viewing position   i.e. looking straight at it, it also does not alter when touching the screen gently.

Backlight bleed will alter when the screen is touched and not when you alter your viewing angle.

Both are helped by reducing the brightness of the screen and carrying out calibration.

Photo's are deceptive I can make mine look like your picture in a photo, but in reality it is nothing like what the photo shows.

If you cannot get the screen to look good for every day tasks and gaming then send it back, but if it's just an unrealistic black screen issue then forget about it.

I use Alien Isolation and Elite as my benchmark games none or minimal effect on those games then I am happy.

    Hope this helps
