I have an Acer Aspire V5-122P-0889 ultra-thin netbook. It came factory with 4Gb DDR3 ram, 204 pin. I can't find any information regarding upgrading the ram. I need to know how far the ram is expandable and what MHz of SO-DIMM memory modules to get. Does anyone know this information?
This is what I'm considering getting: CORSAIR Vengeance 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory single module. Will this work in this latop?

This model has 2 GB of single-channel, onboard DDR3 system memory and is upgradable to 6 GB of dual-channel DDR3 system memory using a single soDIMM moduleThere is only of DIMM socket ehich can handle Maximum memory size 4 GBSince 2GB is onbord, you have the option to install only one 4 GB DDR3L SDRAM with 1333/1066 MHz and 1.35 V wiht 204-pin SO-DIMM package.

Hi,
I have the same question as the original poster of this question, except that my Acer is a aspire v5-122p-0862 "0862" model versus the poster's "0889".
Would there be any difference in your answer considering my model number?

Hello awordswo,
NX.M90AA.002 - Aspire V5-122P-0862
Your laptop has exactly the same specifications that the model stated.
You'll find below the original memory sticks of 4Gb:

llaurent,
should I order an 8MB memory replacement or a 4MB memory replacement?
Also, I'm assuming part of my slowness is due to the processor speed. should I order a particular speed of processor?
Are you familiar with a particular chip vendor/model number that others have been successful in upgradeing and making their Acer run faster?

Hello awordswo,
1- Only one 4Mb memory stick.
2- Unfortunately the processor is soldered on the motherboard (AMD A4-1250 - 1GHz).

thank you laurent
I'm sorry if i keep asking so many questions, but this is complex stuff.
I already ordered a replacement memory card and replaced it, but the Acer Aspire V5 ran slower after I replaced the memory card, so I removed it and returned it.
So, I want to make sure I get this right. When you say the processor is soldered on the motherboard, - how much memory is that.
When I remove the memory card that is removable, how much am I removing?
If I replace the removable memory card with something else, am I gaining CPU speed and more RAM ,
or
2) am I replacing the same amount of Memory, but gaining a faster CPU?

Hello awordswo,
I advise you this Kingston memory stick of 4Gb. That won't change the processor speed.
