M5-583P eGPU possible?

I'm planning to try to implement a eGPU over my PCIe 2.0.0 used by a Intel N-7260 Wireless adapter, which is capped at 2.5 Gb/ps. I checked using Sandra by SiSoftware. Will this be able to link to a external graphics card? And what problems can prevent this/block me from doing this? Such as the back-panel etc?

I know it's kinda dumb and very off, but I do not want to spend 400+ for a better PC/desktop, as they cannot be portable. I still want to make sure, or just be convinced not to do so, as I cannot be sure about it.

Hey man there are a ton of youtube vids on this ,you may find your exact model has already been done , I am also looking at this as it would be a cheaper option to replacing a 8 core desktop i used to have . In one of my first posts a member told me about sacrificing his network bus to run external gpu , gonna message him to jump in on this .

    Cheers Matt

Thanks for your reply, so far, I haven't found the same model for my computer, although I did find how to replace the memory/HDD. And thanks for asking your friend to help with this, I really want the help.

I found the post and this guy knows his stuff but in his case had to use a modified bios to make things work , thats a bit too dicey for most people  but those eGPU kits sure look like fun to me .

What kind of modified BIOS? Because I know mine is locked and can cause problems. But not sure of what possible problems I face on the software/BIOS side.

His system was AMD based and he also used  a utility called k10stat to overclock his cpu  might not need to woryy about it but lets do some joint research on our own before we go in too deep.really good read below

This software he used seems very......interesting. So I'm guessing I need to pay 25 bucks to this nando guy, which then he gives the Setup 1.30 for the eGPU, to make it easier to set the eGPU in for the BIOS etc correct? As well as error codes to simplify it even further..

PCIe is mPCIe correct? Mine is only 2.5 GB/ps, and according to nando's post from the link, it looks like his software can modify it for you... Not sure if 2.5GB/ps will be enough for the eGPU though..If you can, please send me a link, I can't seem to find GB requirements...

And my last question....I would need to remove my laptop's back lid for this, and I think there may be a safety lock that will prevent it from turning on unless it's off, not sure if it's there though...

Thanks alot for your help by the way, I am excited to know I might be able to do a eGPU build.

Just scratching the surface here , that was from two years ago and a older model laptop  , its deffo possible for yours to work and a couple of mine , I have to pic one ,  that poster showed pros and cons , win7 no win 8 yes, bus width is a con but thats all a laptop has to work with.but far better then any onboard laptop graphics is the result. I have a 7739g intel core i3 machine i want to upgrade to i5 i7 if im even gonna attempt this , needs bios flashing just for that alone .Then I need to cut hole in bottom of case for pcie 1x cable  needless to say the whole project is gonna look like a dogs breakfast  on a desk unless your stellar at cable management  . Lets do alittle more  research the both of us and see if somthing newer is available and PM me your exact model number past what you posted here and your exact cpu ram hdd ect and will look further into it , you have ramped up nicely in the forums and are a smart guy  i might be astep ahead in rank but two behind in what you know and i dont so be patient and we will figure this out .

At this moment, I have no idea if it can work, even with setup 1.x.

I know and its not cheap , 77.80 cad shipped from ebay just for a card dock , then you need a psu, graphics cards  ,hdmi cable and myself I want a 40 inch screen , gonna be doing alot of kijiji shoppin to put this together then its firgure out the setup . gonna take some time before mine gets started. I got your info nice its an i7 gonna talk to a local repair shop bout this too.

I have not yet looked at the software/ firmware to do this but decided my almost 5 year old laptop is gonna be the test bed , Acer 7739G  dual graphics , Intel HD , NVIDIA 520GT with 1 GB Dedicated Vram core i3 2x 4Gb ddr3 dual channel  240 GB Adata  SSD , win 8.1 Pro , its a 17 inch with 1600x900, so HD+ , and I want the laptop screen to work besides my HDMI Out From eGPU , gonna go with the mPCIE version  and sacrifice factory internet but replace with a usb stick to still maintain internet capability,in the pic below you see the wifi card beside the ram that will come out. The card slot points back and is near the rear of the case close tothe battery so Im gonna cut a hole in the access bay to allow the cable togo to the e GPU card dock , gonna put this case on feet to elevate and allow the mod clearance underneath. might also look at aftermarket cooling ,this is an old heavy laptop that will not be carted around , as mentioned before will replace the i3 with i5/i7 what i can find cheap. I know you want defintive answers for your machine and I will try and find that out .egpu 014.jpg

    The conflicts I may have

-is if it will work with a LOCKED Insyde 2.3.0 BIOS

-if my mPCIe Intel N-7260 Dual Band slot can accept the eGPU.

-backplate has a switch that doesn't allow me to keep the computer on while the backplate is gone.

-if "switchable" graphics will be problematic.

    What I hope:

iGPU doesn't need to be on, so only CPU will generate heat, reducing heat damage to surrounding parts.

Finally able to play games like Planetside at min 45 FPS

Not cost another 500+ dollars to build a PC.

Im gonna contact BPlus tech at hwtools dot net and ask a few questions maybe even try and obtain the software /firmware , I still think its more how to configure this then will it work , as for price im lookin at  350 to do this not including a new screen .

As for overheating my nvidia gets too hot in my opinion but its not shutting down after an hour of gaming like it was.there was a mouse nest between the fan and heat tube vent that compressed air wont clean and took 1 hour to take this thing apart , probably why the guy sold me the laptop he smelt a problem coming . here is a good read:

As per what Bplus is, I can't figure out what it is...

My iGPU tends to heat up to a sad 80C when I play a intense game, which probably can hurt performace in the long run. And even damage the CPU.

And I'm thinking of using the PE4C 3.0 instead, it seems better, though completely the same...

watched about  twenty more vids on youtube and more then a couple of people have had laptops that would not start with egpu hooked up , that must be the locked bios thing you are most concerned about , some guys cause there own problem like trying a ati/AMD card on a laptop with nvidia igpu , that guy messed with a 6990 for a day  and no go , dropped in a 580 nexttry installed drivers and it worked , that tells me the bios was lookin for nvidia . express card slots on older laptops were awesome to hookup the dock, cant remember the last time i had one . This project is  looking more like trial and error . wont be in my budget til next month at best.

Bplus tech seems to be the bigger company on this dock stuff , Ares version 7.0 calls there dock the Beast  there are a couple others that keep it simple  to, the Thunderbolt 2 and 3 Kits are way too much money.

Got email response from taiwan today spoke to Masaharu Adachi Bplus Tech and was told no bios mods would be needed but yours would be harder to install  , im guessing your case has no access ports so you would need to cut a hole for the cable to pass thru , he agreed that version 3 is what we both need  and there is a vendor in the states with a site or ebay same guy im guessing . Us distributor ......

Thank goodness we don't need BIOS mods, now we know the BIOS will accept it! Probably. And I already knew I would need to cut it one way or another, from where the PCI port is. I'll check the link later, thanks!

Yeah, I'm doing the same soon as well, just trying to find the best holder. Here's my set:

    Graphics Cardhttp://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-750Ti-Graphics-02G-P4-3753-KR/dp/B00IDG3IDO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1458880856&sr=1-1&keywords=750ti

Setup 1.3.0(Just in case, as Error 12 can appear, or not required if you can do a DSDT override(Only works if you have a computer after 2007.))https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/1650-diy-egpu-setup-130-previously-setup-1x/

    500W Power Supply(for the required 400w+ for 750ti.)http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Continuous-Warranty-Supply-100-W1-0500-KR/dp/B00H33SFJU/ref=pd_sim_147_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=51PiQrWaNjL&dpsrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0YZ5PTFDA7HPYQH610H5

    External GPU motherboard connector(mPCIe)http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00Q4VMLF6/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

It's impossible to predict how the software will handle the eGPU, however, hardware should not be a problem, aside from wire handling and if the port is correct or not. This only works if you have a mPCIe SLOT.
