Hello,

recently I asked a technician(or whatever you call him) at my small local PC store, which he owns that store, to add another RAM stick for my Acer Aspire V nitro v7-791g. Since I couldn't be bothered with it myself, I thought it would be the best idea. So he did that and the next day I go to take my laptop back and when I get back home I notice that the touchpad/trackpad isn't working, there is no cursor on windows either. I connect my USB mouse and it seems to work, but not the touchpad, and when I disconnect the USB mouse, the cursor dissapears. I called the technician, he said that it happens a lot, I just need to enable it in control panel - mouse settings. I did everything, I searched everywhere how to, even fn+f7 or whatever which is supposed to disable and re-enable the touchpad doesn't work. In device manager only my mouse shows up, I can't find the touchepad. Installed synaptics latest drivers from their website, still nothing. No drivers, no touchpad, no cursor. Only my USB mouse seems to work. I called them two more times, but they just hung up on me. I feel like they messed up a cable or something which connects the touchepad to the motherboard, otherwise, why else would it not work? Do any of you know what could be wrong?

P.S. Sorry for my poor English skills.

    Atx,

If it is not detecting your touch pad in the Device Manager it is most likely not connected, you have pretty much did everything I would normally suggest to do really. They may need to open it up to see what is wrong since they repaired it last.

I have the same problem. My acer Aspire which I bought from Amazon a month ago was upgraded to 16GB RAM. After installing the RAM, the touchpad stopped working. It works with the external mouse though! The trackpad, however,  is dead. I took it to a repairshop and they said they do not know what the problem was. Later, after few days, I also took it to Bestbuy for a repair... they said the problem cannot be solved in their shop. They advised me to talk to ACER for further technical support.

Now, I am disappointed and decided to use it without the the trackpad- using external mouse. What else can I do?

I had the same problem and i tried many solutions. And the solution is that I changed the touchpad with another one which is an older version of Acer (NOT THE SAME PRODUCT VERSION) and it's worked well.
