Am very frustrated-technician said I had to purchase the eRecovery recovery software-it doesn't work

The eRecovery software doesn't solve the problem - it stalls on the "select recovery type" - the 3 options are greyed out & the only active option is to exit. I tried 1 suggestion of "ctrl+left shift+esc" - that does nothing.  I also tried Alt+Home, which opens a screen that has "X:\windoes\system32.  But that doesn't seem to make any difference.  I'm getting absolutley no where trying to get Acer assistance.

You need to open your PC case and check about cables.
If cables are well plugged, probably is a dead HDD.
If you are not confortable on doing it, take it to a computer shop.

    http://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html
    download the .iso file
then use a software to burn CD/DVD or USB flash drive and burn the .iso file
once done, put the CD/DVD/USB on your PC, boot from CD/USB (maybe you need to boot under Legacy if you have UEFI BIOS)
press F12 at boot and choose CD or USB
    at the desktop
    select your HDD
right click on your HDD icon and choose delete all partitions and click on yes and then apply

If you can get the screen "X:\windows\system32" then wipe your drive....and then the computer will think your hard drive is brand new.

"Diskpart clean" works for both hard drives and solid state drives.

Important Note:  The Crucial diskpart clean instructions that I've linked to work on both hard disk drives (HDD) and solid state drives (SSD).

Well, can get to the screen "X:\windows\system32".....when I go thru the other steps (list disk) it says there are no repaired disks to view..... I'm soooo lost!

Try going in to your BIOS settings and loading the defaults (F9) and then save/exit (F10)

When on Bios check on information tab if your HDD is listed, if not...the problem is the HDD not recognised.

The screen shows: "X:\WINDOWS\system32".....when I type dskpart then list disk it says "there are no fixed disks to show".  As I mentioned previously, I started all of this with F9/F10 before I purchased the eRecovery software.

I don't see specifically "HDD" when BIOs 1st starts & when I enter the bios section there isn't an "information" tab

    yep, you are correct.

    BIOS - Miscellaneous - Advanced

please report or take a picture, what's listed under AHCI ports

by the way, no fixed disk under diskpart...means that HDD is not recognised by the BIOS or system, so recovery disks can't work.

    For the AHCI ports:

     Port 1:  not present

     Port 2:  not present

     Port 3: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GHBON

ok, your HDD is dead or not connected; the Acer recovery disk can't work without an HDD.
