My new (out of the box) Acer one 10 will not allow me to create an user account

I am able to get to the password hint entry and click 'Next', but then get the error, "Something went wrong!"  No matter what I enter into a password hint, it never goes past it.  I have tried turning off and on the tablet, used multiple types of password/username combinations, all to no avail.  The only other issue I am seeing that may be related is when starting up it says "Defaultuser0" and then gives me an error that says "Something went wrong; we dan't sign you in at the moment. Try again, or select Skip to sign in later"  Pressing skip takes you to the create account and the loop begins anew.  Please help!

*Update* I don't know how, but it seemed to have fixed itself. After 30+ times of hitting next, it finally took.  Though, it will not allow me to connect my device to my google+ account. "Navigation to the webpage was cancelled." When clicking on refresh page I get the "There is a problem with this website's security certificate"

Check to make sure the time, date and time zone are set correctly, if they are off by enough you'll get certificate errors.

I just purchased an Acer One  10 this afternoon and I am having the exact same problem. I have rebooted several times and it continues to boot up directly to the login screen. I can not get back to the screen to even check the date/time.

I read elsewhere that it may be an issue of a low battery on first startup, so I am letting it charge for a few hours before trying again.

Also, I found it very odd that there were absolutely no initial startup instructions included in the box. Nothing explaining that it would need charging, or what the buttons do, or anything.

Well, this was a major pain in the rear. After restarting several times, and still getting stuck in the same place in the login process, the computer finally booted up into Windows, but as "defaultuser0." It appeared to be similar to Safe Mode in previous versions of Windows where the screen was in black and white, but I could not access any of the Windows programs.

After restarting several times from there, I finally held down the F2 key, hoping to reach a boot menu. This time, it entered the first-time startup process again and let me actually create my user ID and password. Since then, it has been operating normally.

Also, I finally found a copy of the user manual online. I STILL don't understand why this was not packaged with the computer itself, but I watched several "unboxing" videos for the Acer One S1002 and none of them had the manual either. The manual had valuable information about first-time startup and battery charging for the first time use. Along with a description of what the buttons do! Why I had to find this on the CNET website and not on the Acer website (let alone inside the box!) is another mystery:

Uh, I see two user manuals online at the Acer support site, the original one and one for Windows 10 versions. You do have to select the Documents tab. Not that it matters in your case, I don't know what would cause the issues you were seeing, unless the box had been opened and it had started the install process before it got into your hands. Any chance they used it as a demo model?

Wow.  This is the VERY reason I went to this website.  I was also wondering why there was no user manual in the box.  Thanks for posting!  I downloaded the link you put.  Hope it's the correct one (saw a message that there is more than one).

Ok...still having problems.  I let it charge for a long time (with the power turned off).  I was excited to see it seeming to come on as it should.  However, it goes to a black desktop screen with:  4 icons on the side, the windows startup icon at the bottom, the search bar, the task view icon (both next to the startup), and the notifications icon and keyboard icon both at the bottom on the RH side.  One of the icons says Acer Care Center, but I get a message about asking to allow this app to make changes to my pc; not sure if I want that.  The other desktop icons are the recycle bin, booking.com, and dashlane password manager.

Help??  I've had it for almost 3 full days; two of which it has been fully charged.  I still can't use my new tablet!

I was at the same spot. I usedthe power button to reboot, then as it booted up, I held down F2 on the keyboard. It booted up back into the initial startup process, but this time it let me go through the login and create an account. Been working fine since then.

    Hope that helps

Well, I actually found a way to get it working...for awhile, that is. I was able to click on the icon called Acer Care Center. I looked at different areas in that (found out about checking the battery, etc.), and saw a default reset. It took quite awhile, but it really worked. I was looking online, my husband set up the anti virus protection, etc.
Unfortunately, when I closed it in order to go upstairs, it logged me out. I typed in the password, and it will not accept it. Arrgh! Maybe I will try what you suggested, now. It"s just very frustrating, because I finally had it working, just as it should. ????
