Hi all,

I want to upgrade the stock 14" HD 1366 x 768 TN screen to a FullHD 1920 x 1080 IPS screen on my Aspire E5-432. FullHD requires a 2 lane eDP video cable, while HD requires only a 1 lane eDP cable.

Questions:

  1. Is the stock video cable in the E5-432-P99T a 1 lane or 2 lane eDP video cable, is it HD only or FHD capable?
If the stock cable is not 2 lane/FHD :
  1. What is the part # for a replacement cable that is 2 lane /FHD capable?
  2. Would this cable for a 15" laptop do : FHD DC02C004600 EDP CABLE FOR ACER ASPIRE V3-571G FHD LCD LVDS CABLE http://r.ebay.com/HO6RQg

Aspire E series E5-432-P99T s/n : NXMZNAA001

Stock video cable part #: DC020025D00-W8H1, 10-54N-000-2CA0

Stock 14" HD TN screen part #: LP140WH8-TPE1

Screen I would like to replace with : AUO B140HAN01.1 http://www.panelook.com/modeldetail.php?id=18919

With a SDD that will soon replace the stock HDD and a FHD IPS screen, this laptop will be very nice indeed...

Both the old and new panels are 2 lane so, the original cable should work.

Hmmm, call me skeptical but a support agent from a laptop screen website said I needed a new cable. HD screens normally require only 1 lane, while FHD requires 2.
Can you confirm the stock cable in the E5-432 is 2 lane?

Stock 14" HD TN screen part #: LP140WH8-TPE1 uses the stock cable.

scan down to signal interface: eDP (2 lanes) , 30 pins

replaced his screen whith a  B140HAN01.1 and he used the same cable. If it helps, this is the cable he had.

I just purchased one on AliExpress : $80 shipping included.

Just received the FHD (1920x1080) IPS screen about 1h ago. It's a AU Optronics B140HAN01.1 or .2, it was extremely well packed and took about 3 weeks to deliver. Yay!

Replacing the LCD took only a few minutes, and doesn't require that much skill : the plastic bezel pops right off, take out 4 screws, unplug previous LCD panel, and do the reverse with the new panel. Be very carefull when unplugging/replugging the LCD panel, the connector is very small and seems somewhat fragile.

With the new panel in place, I power it up, and then, problem : max resolution is still reported at 1366x768, image is tiled on the screen with jaggies/corrupted video on the right side. Uh oh. Reboot changes nothing. Uh oh.

I carefully rechecked the cable : it did not seem damaged in any way. Made sure it was properly connected, booted into BIOS with F2, and then everything just started working. Can't say whether the cable wasn't properly connected or if booting into the BIOS fixed it, but hey, it now works : I have 1920x1080 resolution.

And it is glorious. Colors are much deeper and don't flip out to their negative when the angle of view changes. The matte finish cuts down on glare and makes it much more usable.

Very satisfied with the result, I highly recommend it to all.

I had the same resolution issue when upgrading my screen on my V3-572G. I could not get windows to give me a 1920x1080 resolution. Uninstalling the generic pnp monitor from device manager and rebooting the device fixed it right up. Works like a charm.
