my s3-392g is hanging a lot - but not when it's in safe mode!

I have a refurbished s3-392g, and I've been struggling with hangs for a while now. The screen entirely freezes, with any audio "buzzing", and the only solution is a hard reset.

I've tried pretty much every solution under the sun now:

  • all drivers are up to date according to the acer driver website
  • even with a "diagnostic startup" (basic drivers/services), my laptop still freezes
  • I've reset my laptop to factory settings and that still hasn't solved the problem
  • there are no exclamation marks in the device manager
  • "sfc /scannow" and "chkdsk" both bring up nothing
  • laptop does not freeze in safe mode with networking

My laptop hardly ever freezes when I'm plaing video games (although it has once or twice), so I have a feeling that it's something to do with my intel display drivers.

I would really appreciate any help that any of you can give!

Can you give your complete model number?  And OS?

    Examples below are more descriptive.

    Acer Aspire S3-392G-54204G50tws Ultrabook

    or

    NX.MDWEK.003

If you can't find that info, you can:

    1. Right click on Windows Start button

    2. Left click on Run

    3. Type msinfo32

    4. click ok

And from there, you can post a screenshot of your cpu, OS and BIOS/mode.  I'll post my screenshot of my desktop below as an example.

    10bees,

I know you said you already reset, but I would try one more time.  If that didn't fix it, I would guess you have a hardware problem.  Hopefully it's under warranty.

Please follow instructions in video below (be sure to backup your important personal files first)

After you reset, please wait a couple days to see how it performs before you add any personal software to it.
