Internet Connection, this is getting ridiculous

So I made a post previously about my battery, clock and internet having issues. I've fixed both the clock and the battery but the internet STILL keeps disconnecting and reconnecting! This is getting out of hand, I've had numerous messages and downloads disrupted due to the internet issues and I've had no replies to help combat this issue. I have an Aspire VN7-571G, the internet driver is AR5BWB222 (latest version). I've put the battery option to Maximum Performance under network adapters. I'M DESPERATE.

    Schifang,

We have an article created that may resolve this for you: Why is my wireless signal strength low after changing power settings?

Thank you so much for your reply, I have downloaded and installed the patch. The disconnections have gotten rarer but are still present! However, I can finally download and view videos and I greatly appreciate your help!

Upon further usage, the problem has resurfaced. However, there are 2 new internet drivers on the Acer driver manual, NFA344 and NFA222. Which should I download?? Many thanks.

    Schifang,

Have you received any updates on your Acer Care Center application, by chance?

They look like they are both for the Atheros hardware, I've sent a message to see what the differences are and if both should be posted and will get back to you.

    Schifang,

Okay, here's what I've been able to find out so far for you.

Acer shipped 2 versions of Atheros card, version NFA222 and NFA344. Check your Acer Care Center and see what it lists. You should see a "my system" page that lists the WLAN chipset, it will have either a 222 or 344 in it, that will help you determine which one you will need to download. For example, the one we had here I could check showed qualcomm Atheros ar5bwb222.

    Hello Justin!

Upon checking the Acer Centre, I have found out that I should be downloading the NFA222 driver as opposed to the NFA344 one (which I kept on downloading). I have downloaded it now just finished installing it. I would just like to say a HUGE thank you!! You've saved me a lot of time and trouble and I really appreciate it!

Let's hope this time everything is fixed.

Unfortunately Justin, after downloading the Driver, my internet consistency has actually decreased... is it because of a bad wifi chip? I really don't want to send this to repairs... Thanks though!

    Schifang,

I see another community user (CYK) has posted something to try in this thread, if you're up for it.

    1. Disabled “U-APSD Support” under Device Manager / Network Adapters / Intel dual band wireless / Advanced Setting
    2. Applied the "Patch" you suggested

I have attempted to disable the U-APSD but could not locate the "Intel dual band wireless" under device manager > network adapters. I only have the Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wireless Network Adapter and the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. Everything else is either WAN Miniports or Bluetooth devices... What should I do?

    Schifang,

You've attempted just about everything one would ask to do before sending a unit in for repair to get it looked at for a hardware problem. I realize that's not something you want to do, but the options are pretty limited at this point. Smiley Sad

I understand, that's really annoying but I would still want to say a big thank you for helping and replying to me. I truly appreciate it Smiley Happy

    Hello Schifang,

Any luck with the wifi issue? I have the same problem, and I'm not really keen on opening up the laptop and changing the card. Did you find any alternate solution?

ng into convo. as i see it it may be a usage issue with too many folks online, or private wi-fi users disconnecting time and again.

Else: the truth is out there
