a500 update appears to work, but concludes in bootloop again

I downloaded the image, AV041.A500.RV21RC03.WW.GEN1, from the support page and installed it.  The tablet shows the icosahedron animation, and then attempts to boot from the acer logo, but bootloops again, just as it had before.  Is there any advice for this?

    Try a factory reset:

I presumed that I'd lose all of my apps as well (if I did that. )  I was very lazy about backups.  Is there a way to boot a rescue image?  Or flash it with some other rooted image, and back up to usb, or something?  Is there a different update.zip that might be more fitting?

yes, this involve loosing all your personal data and applications.

no way to boot a rescue image.

we can't discuss here rooted images or how to root.

this depends on which image had from factory your A500.

I understand.  I just wondered whether another variant of the update.zip might work.  I feel like I'm giving up after strike one.

Thank you for your attentions, IronFly.

    Youe welcome.

the main issue is: whatever new image you will flash (apart an update of the one you already have), you need to do a factory reset to avoid bootloops.
