My Acer Aspire 5742 screen went black it won't respond. Only the orange lightbulb indicater blinks.

in 2015 Archives

The only response I get is the little orange lightbulb indicater flashes a few times.  No other sound or response.  I took out the battery and rebooted but that didn't work.

    Have you... made any hardware changes? I had this same issue trying to install a 2nd HDD, which turns out, was a waste of time, because it wasn't even possible. Hit the power... black.

    Yes but it didn't work.

    I didn't do anything. Just walked away to answer the phone, came back to a black screen.

    1. Power indicator or battery indicator?
    2. If the laptop is equipped with two memory modules, have you tried with only one?

    3. Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.
