Aspire E5-573G 56RG - Nvidia Driver Could Not Find Compatible Graphics Hardware? Geforce 940M

Hi! So I got this laptop a couple months ago, the Acer Aspire E5-573G 56RG. I was looking through the Windows 10 Device Manager and I noticed the driver for the main GPU, the Geforce 940M, wasn't on the list but in "Other Devices" there's an error with the "3d Video Controller" and in fact it tells me it's this isn't configured correctly.

And I know that this is the Nvidia card because it has the Nvidia VEN number in the Hardware Ids List.

So I goto the Acer drivers page for the E5-573G and download the Nvidia VGA driver from the list. I begin to install it and the installer gives me an error message: "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."

So now I'm lost here. I can't even get the driver that comes from the acer page to install on my computer. If anyone can help I would be so grateful. Thanks!

    Try this:

right click on the Intel grapchi adapter, choose to uninstall and tick to uninstall software too.

then try to install nvidia drivers, if doesn't work, uninstall the 3D video controller too and click on Scan for hardware change.

Did all of that, nothing has changed, it still tells me it could not find compatible graphics hardware with the Nvidia installation. The only thing that's different it that when I uninstall the Intel VGA driver the missing "3d video controller" turns into "unknown driver" but still has the same hardware id tags.

Instead of Acer/nvidia version, try to install nvidia only:

Same Installer response 2 different times, first with the Intel VGA driver still installed, second time with it uninstalled. It doesn't seem to be detecting the hardware Ids of the chip itself.

have you tried to install nvidia drivers manually?

double click the 3D video adapter and choose to update driver manually, normally the nvidia drivers folder is c:\nvidia

Just tried that now! It tells me it was unable to install the 3d video controller.

at this point, i would try a windows refresh or reset if your laptop had windows 10 from factory.

REFRESH=will save all your data and programs (by the way, a backup it's always safer)

RESET=you need to bakup all your data first, since it will be reset to factory default
