Aspire 7715z Keyboard problem

My Aspire 7715z has keyboard problems. In some cases I do not get the expected character when entering the key but a combination of two chars. This happens primiarily with keys on the left side of the keyboard, see details below.

Earlier this week I replaced the keyboard with a brand new one expecting it would fix the issue. Unfortunately that's not the case and I still have exactly the same problem using the new keyboard.

Any clues what hardware of software components could cause this and how to fix it?

I tried adjuisting the windows 7 keyboard settings but that doesn't help.

w becomes ws         s  becomes ws

d becomes ed          e becomes ed

r becomes rg           g becomes rg

y becomes yh           h becomes yh

k becomes km         m becomes km

In addition combination of some keys like ALT-TAB is not working either.

I would try re-seating the ribbon connector a half-dozen or so times just to make sure the contacts on the motherboard are cleaned up a bit. Sometimes the sliding clips that secure the ribbon tightly to the connector break off resulting in strange behavior. In the latter case, a bit of tape can save the day.

Tried numerous times to insert/remove the band connector. Unfortuantely it didn't help to resolve the issue.

Replacing the MB is too costly, so opted to buy a small external wireless keyboard.

On the outside chance that the keyboard driver somehow got corrupted, check device manager for any errors or warnings. If there are errors anywhere, please note and report back and we'll go from there. If no errors, try to uninstall the internal keyboard driver. Exit device manager. Then re-boot the computer and let Windows try to re-install the driver.
