I'm Bert. A novice with a new Acer Aspire E5-571-563. About a month is all. And just love the ease of windows 8.1. Still a pain to learn being a win7 and winxp user for years. This is a cadillac compared. But overall the best improved for apps and security issues. Hope everyone finds it as feasible. I would like to get into viruses and the like to help others. If you're really new to windows,  it's better to ask than make a wrong decision like I used to. Ok Everyone have a nice day.

Welcome to the Community and glad to hear you have found a good computer that is working for you... As a way to learn the Win 8.1 take things slow and just remember you didn' t learn 7 or xp over night... Also if you like 7 and feel you like 8.1 I would say that you might even Love Windows 10.... As for me anyway I feel  it is the best of Both Worlds of 7 and 8...

Just remember that its a free upgrade until July... So could be something to mess around with come June if you wanted to learn 8.1 more... Also I would get a hold of a 16gb Flash and make a Recovery for your system just in case it is needed in the future....

    Happy Computing

    James

Hi, and thanks for the good tech prep. Just to say I did use a backup after purchase. Found I could not activate to personalize my laptop. The product key is actually there but displays as not. Wouldn't update or anything. Called the acer support and received a system recovery USB to reinstall everything. This was the best solution picked. Today I processed to install and it's been five hours since I began. Everything has been done up until the last install of, "sysprep-factory mode", and it is still working or hung in a loop of some sort. What should I do? I tried calling but my connection is bad for a cell phone.
