Adding ram to XC-705-UR53

Hello.

I recently purchased a XC-705-UR53 with a single 4GB of ram. As I have an open slot I'd like to upgrade. After reading through some posts on here, and other information on the web, I think I have it figured out as to what I can, and can't, use to upgrade my system. If some experienced soul could please veriy that If I wanted to add one additional stick to my system I could use either this: Crucial 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) or this: Crucial 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) and it would be compatible with my current memory?

Am I also correct in assuming that If I wanted to remove my existing ram completely and replace it with this: Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) ,this: Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3L 1600 (PC3L 12800) ,or this: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) I would be safe?

For additional information this is the exact ram module in my current desktop: Hynix 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600MHz

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley Happy

Hi, I would suggest that you purchase a matched pair and remove the module that is in there now, it is always best from what I have read to have the same type of ram installed.

You can use some type but different sizes on this machine.

Using my phone so little hard to type it all out at the moment so I will try and post a picture of the install in what slot.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for this chart RevoMaxx. I do understand that there is a risk involved when using two sticks of RAM that aren't purchased together as a set. Whether I take that chance, or not, remains to be seen. I will update my upgrade decision in this thread, whenever it happens.
