Hello,

I want to use the w700 for Office work, movies and some simple Windows programs. No Gaming.

Do I have a disadvantage with the old Core i3-2365M (1.4 GHz) and HD3000? E.g. battery life, slower notable work speed ?

Thanks for help.

I'm using the HD3000 model as well and most applications are running fine. In fact, everything loads smoothly and fast. I'm not much of a gamer, but I tried games like Warcraft 3 which works well on this tablet just to test out its capabilities.

Battery life is surprisingly almost the same as the i5 model (up to 8 hours, 4 hours+ for Maximum performance)

Also, I've used Office 2013 on this tablet and it's running fine.

Thanks for your answer. Why should anyone buy the i5 then? 200 bucks just for more disk space? And gaming is not a good idea on a tablet, aint it.

I appreciate further answers and your help :-)

I'd say for your use it suits your needs perfectly fine...

And why others would go for the i5? Well, 200 bucks isn't that enormous on a price of 700 to 900 and the added performance might be really benificient for them. And always want the fastest of course Smiley Wink

Is it also possible that the i3-version is running cooler / more silent due to less power?

Background: I have tried the i5-version in a local shop and it was getting warm and hearable (fans inside) pretty quick.

Unfortunately they had no i3, so I have no comparision.

i3 should actually be very similar in terms of temp and fan noise. Sandy Bridge runs warmer than Ivy, and the fan usually will kick in the moment the processor ramps up from the base 800mhz.
