ACER Liquid Jade S - S56 - Android 4.4.4 - Sporadic reboots & system update fails

I bought a brand new Acer Liquid Jade S and had some initial problems:

1) The SIM card seems to easily slip out of the slide.

2) The seller advertised the OS as Android 5.

3) Sporadic reboots, freezes, etc.

4) Updates fail.

Problem 1 was corrected by using a different phone cover (the first one seemed to "click" the sim card slide out of place.

Problem 2 appears to be something that will be resolved somewhere this year (when ?).

Problem 3 remains.

Problem 4 remains, and the current update appears to have a fix for problem 3.

DESCRIPTION OF THE UPDATE FAIL:

"A new system update is available (34.25 MB)"

- Fixed sporadic reboot problem

- Updated NuSwype

I select "Download now", the download succeeds and the prompt is

"Restart & install", which I select.

The phone then restarts and shows the following messages:

===========================================

Android system recovery <3e>

Acer_AV0K0_S56_1.006.00_EMEA_BGC

<Volume up/down ... >

Installing update...

Verifying current system...

"/system/app/Gallery2.apk" has unexpected contents.

Update.zip is not correct.

Installation aborted.

===========================================

When selecting "reboot system now", the phone reboots and messages "Update failed".

Please correct the problem or tell me what to do. The sporadic freezes and reboots are quite annoying, especially since they occur so often.

This is a new phone. There are more expensive models out there, but this isn't the cheapest one.

P.S.: I do like the phone regardless. It has a very nice feel, beautiful design and it fits my needs exactly (low SAR output and dual-SIM for instance).

    I would try a factory reset if you haven't already did.

    If a capable Acer technician is reading this: the problem still persists, after a month. Please advise.

    [please keep it courteous]

    Hey

    I have the same problem, with freeze and sporadic since 2 weeks.

    I also have an update available ( Current APN Acer V2.143, Android Version 4.4.4)

    When I tried to update, after push " restart and install", I get the following issue :

    ===========================================

    Android system recovery <3e>

    Acer_AV0K0_S56_1.008.00_EMEA_BGC

    <Volume up/down ... >

    Installing update...

    Verifying current system...

    "/system/app/weather.apk" has unexpected contents.

    Update.zip is not correct.

    Installation aborted.

    ===========================================

    Do you find a solution for your smartphone ?

    I have this phone since 6months, but I never rooted it.

    I suppose that I only have to delete the file "/system/app/weather.apk"

    but when I connect my phone via USB, I don't find the folder /system/app

    Have you got some idea?

    Thanks,

    Ok So What can I do :

    1) Send the phone to where I buy it ?

    2) Download the update from the web and click on "apply update from my SDCard" ?

    3) Try to "wipe cache partition" or "wipe data reset" to avoid conflic anymore with "weather.apk"

    Thanks

    1) i would try point 2-3 first

    2) if there's an update for your build number, yes try it

    3) try this too
