VN7-792G No bluetooth

Dear,

I bought this laptop 2 weeks ago (just for reference if I ever have to link to this thread the webshop was Coolblue.be). Ever since I got it I haven't been able to find a bluetooth option in the windows settings.

I also can't find it (hidden) in the device manager. The wifi works (be it with some random disconnects).

Device manager

I have tried all drivers on site (Both the wifi and bluetooth drivers) but it remains invisible in device manager.

Anyone with some help Smiley Sad

Best Regards,

    Maximvdw,

What happens when you use the FN+F3 key (communication button)?

You can also try the steps in this article to see if that helps.

Acer-Justin is correct you will not see it listed under available Network Adapters in the Device Manager until it is turned on.

If your running Win10 (with Cortana enabled) that came with this laptop you can type Bluetooth in the Search Bar (on the taskbar) and one of the suggested answers is Bluetooth Settings.

Alternatively you can use the Control Panel|Settings. Select Devices and then Select Bluetooth. You will be given and On|Off button for Bluetooth at the top of the window.

As mentioned in the OP there is no bluetooth option. If I type bluetooth in the search it finds nothing (only shows a zip file I downloaded with bluetooth in the name).

Also in the settings there is no bluetooth option at the place I know it should be.

I asked a few Acer users and they claim they also have the bluetooth enable option in Acer Quick Access, however I only have the option to enable WiFi.

FN+F3 only disables my Wifi, after doing it again it enables again but nothing bluetooth related happens.

Currently when doing the factory reset I always connected to wifi to download the latest updates, I am going to try and not do that on my next factory reset to see if it changes anything

Have you installed this driver 10.0.0.137 for the Atheros adapter? If so, were there any error messages during the install - also I would conduct the install by fully extracting the folder (i.e. not within the compressed folder) then execute as Administrator.

Perhaps you should uninstall the existing drivers and make sure you reinstall just this driver - reboot and then go to the Bluetooth settings. Maybe along the way of trying so many driver installs you've messed up the associations to the adapter.

    Just a thought!

    Also,

Verify you have the correct adapter identified.

It's labeled on the back of your laptop - looking from the back - label on the right side - identifies the model number for WLAN and bluetooth.

My original was QCNFA344A which is made by Hon Hai (a Foxconn company) but all these are based on the Qualcomm/Atheros reference design for the 344A model.

So, is this how I can tell which WLAN & Bluetooth drivers to download for my V7-792G, from a label on the underside of the unit? I tried to install Windows 7 on mine, and I was able to get everything working except for the sound (apparently, no driver for the Intel Smart Sound Technology exists for Windows 7), so I'm going to have put Windows 10 back on it. The support page for my laptop lists 4 or 5 different drivers for 4 or 5 different WLAN adapters, and 2 different Bluetooth drivers, and I've been wondering how I was to know which are the correct ones for my laptop!

Yes If you haven't opened and changed the WLAN/Bluetooth card - then the label on the back will tell you which one is installed. Then choose the correct driver to match.

Sorry for the late reaction, I did some more testing and eventually was not able to get bluetooth to work, I did manage to get it show up on Acer Quick Access, but it keeps saying "Cannot control device"

    Nobluetooth

I got a message from Acer asking to do an RMA, but it will take X weeks (And as a student in the middle of an internship missing the laptop for even 2 days is dramatic).

I will do some more testing and if its not fixed after my internship I will have to do an RMA.

Despite showing up on "Acer Quick Access" I can't really do anything with it, its the correct driver for sure. I think the problem may be with the hardware itself, as I am getting occasional BSODs when downloading large files as well.
