Broken headphone jack for Acer Liquid Z330

I just bought a Liquid Z330 two weeks ago and everything seems to work normally fine until last night. I always have an earphone stuck to my ears so I clearly heard a difference. My phone's headphone audio output is a now muffled and distorted especially in the bass which seemed to sound great just yesterday. I never dropped my phone and never got it wet, so I'm pretty sure it's not some mishandling damage. So I've tried these things so far:

  • I first checked the DTS Equalizer and Google Play Music's built-in equalizer. The settings have not changed yet the audio is suddenly busted.
  • Also checked if it's an app-isolated problem. Nope. Play Music, VLC, Spotify, even YouTube have distorted audio. Game audio is also distorted.
  • Checked if the earphones I'm using (the provided earphones, that is) are already broken but they work perfectly fine in other devices.
  • Lastly, I tried plugging in different earphones on my phone (I tried Apple's EarPods as well our home's speaker system) and the results are the same, which were previously not the case since I used EarPods and the speaker system just recently.

I'm guessing it's a hardware problem with the headphone jack. Any ideas on what else it could be? Should I make the trip to the service center or is there any easy fix to this without voiding my warranty? Thanks!

try one last thing, a factory reset but backup your data before do it.

    settings/backup&reset - factory data reset

if after the reset the audio is still distorted, it's an hardware issue and need to be serviced.

You don't know how much time you saved me to go to the service center. Thank you very much! A factoy reset just did the trick! Smiley Very Happy
