How to remove the stand on Aspire Z3-710

The AZ3-710 with its metal stand is too tall for our desired location.  We are considering removing the stand and supporting the unit on along its base edge with wooden stands.  Has anyone removed the metal stand?  The hinge/spring bracket has three visible screws.  Are those the only fasteners to remove?

there are 4 screws just around the stand, unscrew those and pull down and up gently the stand.

Thanks but it sounds like you have a different stand.  Mine is L-shaped and only has 3 screws (barely accessible) on the hinge bracket. Photo is attached

Ok, on mine there is a plastice cover plate over the screws!  Any special trick for removal or just pry it out?

    Ironfly,

Thanks again for your help.  I found that the plastic cover has little retention tabs along all 4 side edges.  The bottom side (with the slots) comes out easiest with a putty knife.  Once that bottom edge is up and out, you can slide the cover down slightly to release the tabs on the top edge and then gently prying will lift out the whole cover plate. Until you pointed out the 4 mounting screws, I thought that only the bottom stand piece could come off at the hinge. Much easier to remove it with the hinge.

So now I have the stand removed and I have taken the 3 screws from the botton.  How do I now remove the back?  It doesn't budge.

I am providing an image from the service guide that I hope helps. Once you have removed the screws, it may require a plastic pry tool to gently pry the casing apart as there are clips at intervals around that case that keep the plastics together in the event screws come out. Please be careful not to damage the product, as physical damage is not covered under warranty.
