Hi there, we have a problem on the machine where we downgraded to Windows 7 64BIT and we picked up the drivers from the Acer Support website.

Unfortunately the WIFI is not working despite trying all three options in the Support Site for Windows 7 64BIT.

The laptop originally came with Windows 8.1 which we didn't like. Lan working ok.

Changes we made - Put a new SSD Drive in (obviously had to lift keyboard for that which wasnt so hard, and the three ribbons inside that have been put back in.

Can anyone advise please?

I figured out the problem and got it working. I was struggling to find the correct driver, turns out needed to find another one for a similar laptop by HP! None of the Acer ones on the website were working as they are all for Windows 8.1

I went to the Device Manager under System (Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate)....

You need to go into Control Panel>Device Manager and scroll to Network Adapters. The wireless will be there so right click it, go to Properties and then click the Details tab. Scroll to HardwareIDs and take a note of the four characters which follow VEN for Vendor and also the four following DEV for Device.

Go to http://www.pcidatabase.com and input those characters in the two relevant boxes and follow the trail to the right driver. When you find the list of the Vendor's drivers, they aren't in order so use your browser's Find facility to track the Device details. With luck you'll have an executable file but some will be a zipped folder.

    Found this info from http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/43377-43-wifi-working-acer-aspire-windows

So the point is to track down the correct driver by looking for the the Device ID (first four characters) and tracking down the next four characters (Vendor ID) when you go through the list.

Hope that helps some of you.
