Battery Issue M5-583p

Running out of ideas...  First the battery would say 41% in Windows 8 and not charge anymore, and when I unplugged the laptop instantly turned off.  So I figured the battery wasn't charging.  I used a multimeter to check the output of the AC adapter and also tried an alterate power source (portable battery that outputs same voltage).  I also used the battery reset button on the bottom of the laptop for several seconds, no effect.

So I then bought a new OEM (part AP13B8K - LG manufactured 2014) battery pack, put it in the laptop.  Turned on, now Windows says there is no battery.  I turned off, let it charge for a bit, then the red charge light started blinking (not good), powered up and sometimes windows sees the battery but it never works if I unplug (goes dead instantly).  I also tried the battery reset button with the new battery.  I also saw some posts about unplugging other cables from system board when installing new batteries (unplugged keyboard and replugged).

Not sure if the laptop is good but the battery is bad (have an email in to the seller) or if there is a problem with the laptop and the batteries aren't the problem.

Any ideas?

Dave

    Hello Dave,

    May be useful.

    The original batteries are:

    Spoiler
    KT.00403.015BATTERY.POLY.4C.3560mAh (AP13B 4SP1) - SANYO
    KT.0040G.001BATTERY.POL.4C.3510mAh (AP13B 4SP1) - LGC

    Note: LGC means LG Chem.

Thank you for those part#s.  The battery I purchased is the same part as indicated on the original battery AP13B8K; actually the original has the part as AP13B8K and then (4ICP6/60/80) after it.  It does not say AP13B 4SP1.

I am just trying to find out if there is a special step that needs to be performed, or if symptom is indicative of a system board issue rather than simply a dead original battery and a coincidentally bad replacement battery.

    Hello,

I had a similar problem with an Acer V7 ZQY, I started a new thread on this forum... Is your problem solved ?
