Aspire VN7-792G USB when connecting it crashes
When I connect an USB external drive to the left hand UBS port (maybe others too) the computer crashes.

Has anyone tried this 2010 fix on a Win10 machine? I sure dont want to have to relaod the os if it messes up

You might check this first. On my system the driver for eXtensible Host Controller and Root Hub are 10/29/15 vintage

Go to US.acer.com support. Drivers and download the Intel Chipset Driver for VN7-792

You can also go here - download the Intel Driver check utility, install and run. But as noted OEM's sometimes update the drivers and your better off downloading directly from Acer.

Post your Windows version/build...e.g. Version 1511 Build 10586.29
To find your Windows version/build...
1. Right click on windows start button
2. Left click on run
3. type winver
4. click ok
