Going to need more info on model of your system. If it came off mother board and socket is in place. Plugs inn only one way. Also what fan? Cpu or case fan? 3 4 or 2 wire?

Is it the Heatsink/Fan? An auxiliary fan? How many wires? A little more info would be very helpful. In case you don't know what a heatsink / fan is, it is the fan that sits on top of what looks like an a block of metal with many 'fins' on it. If it is a fan that is connected either to the front, back or side of the case itself and not on the motherboard, then it is an auxiliary fan and quite an easy fix.

It's my CPU Heatsink fan with 4 wires...  Computer is  Acer aspire V5-571 it's completely off socket and everything.  I need to know how to reattach a new socket to be able to plug fan in. My phone won't let me load pictures I took off it...  It says error when coming from my gallery....  I will try from comp real quick before it gets too hot.

Well sadly that looks like something that is going to need just little more help then just a normal plug it back in effect... Good news is that you can clearly see the wires and the connector to the wires are still good. However sadly there is only 1 or 2 ways that this can be fixed and both ways require the ability to solder... It isn't really hard but if you don't have a good Gun or Pen it can be a pain. Also if it was me doing the repair you would need some Desoldering wick, rosin core solder, spounge and a nice soldering unit I prefer Weller analog station.

If you haven't do any soldering before I would do a few test runs on things that don't matter. Like some components that are broke and don't matter how it turns out... You will want to learn how to make a good solder and how to remove it with the wick. Once you have that down then you will want to get a replacement part and could be found on parts that have same connection. Or maybe I say Maybe if you wanted to you could do a dirrect connectoin to your MB from your fan wires. However if this was done it would need to be covered well and soldered well so it won't come off. only bad thing about doing that type of repair is that if you needed to replace the fan in future it would have to be soldered again.....

I have a 60 watt solder gun but haven't got the strips.  I seen a few other videos for different computers. didn't know if that was exactly how to do it.  I've never had to solder before.  if I solder it to my mb and it comes off somehow how would I get it back on?  wouldn't all the connectors be fine basically?  would I need to buy connectors?  I think I did buy those connector pieces and  stickers all brand new just not strips to take away excess,  or clean before I do it this time.

Issue is that most Guns in this would have a tip that is little big. There are some out there that have smaller tips I guess my Gun I never bought smaller tips as I use them for bigger jobs. For close work that is small I like the Pen with a ETT or ETS tips. I have a Pes51 and a Wes51 Analog then a gun that I hardly use now days...

It maybe that going direct is the way to go. Even if you found  a small enough 4 pin I am not sure it would be the right placement for the MB anyway.

Again before you do any soldering I would do some testing. You could get away without the Wick but I wouldn't seeing how small the area is... Also I would think about getting a Helping Hands with LIght and Mag. It will make it easier. However again need to learn how to use

IF you do go straight to board make sure you leave just a little wire on the connecter to make sure you don't forget orientation to the board.

Thank you very much.  I will reply back and tell everyone how it went...

It would really be hard to say. It don't say what the WATT ratings are and other then that it does look like a standard type tip. Only thing you need to keep an eye on is how much solder build up it has when you are trying to solder... Only thing I would worry about really is that I am not sure it is ESD safe.

ESD is called Electrostatic discharge, is sudden flow of electricity from two electrically charged objects caused by contact, dielectric breakdown or Short.

Seeing that you are going to be working on computer parts it is important to be safe. I say Better MORE safe then sorry.

I know the WES these days are still over 100 mine was over 2, but the PES is less and it is ESD safe as well. I am not saying that the one you have listed wouldn't work. I just wouldn't chance it myself....

It's a 30W... I'll look into the PES. Thank you!
