How do I get my money back from Acer?

On Sunday November 22, 2015 I called in because my conputer won't load: it has the Acer start up page, then it says Preparing Automatic Repair, then a screen pops up saying Recovery You Pc needs to be repaired.  I was told that I had to pay $99.99 and they would be able to fix the problem. By the time I got done with the tech he said I need to purchase a $50 (rounded up) recovery thumb drive.  I don't get why I had to pay $99.99 and my computer still does not work.  I would like my money to be refunded to me!!

    I don't work for Acer.  But generally when you pay for something by credit card, you just call the credit card company if you have a dispute.....and they take care of it.

     

    If you start a new thread, someone on the forum might be able to help.  If you post your model# and operating system, you'll get more responses.

     

    If your computer came with Windows 8.1, you can get the free vanilla windows 8.1 here (no need to enter a key as the key is automatically retrieved from the BIOS):

    If your computer came with windows 7, you can try to clean install windows 10 (for free) by entering your windows 7 key.

    Maybe someone else can give you some other options if you don't like those free options that I gave you.  Smiley Happy

     

    My options probably aren't good options if you don't have your important personal files backed up as you will lose them during the installation process.

    This is kind of hard when there is nothing on my computer.  All the tech had me do was that alt F10 thing.  and it wouldn't do anything.
