I replaced a motherboard in my friends laptop that  was constantly shutting down. I replaced the cpu, put t/p compound on it, put it back together, fired it up, it lasted 10 minutes and shut right off.  I have it on a note book cooler under it, the fan is running good, its all clean, i went in to the power options and reduced the cpu usage to %90, and it still shuts down.. If I could keep it running long enough to run a malware scan I would, is it possible the o.s. is corrupt and this is causing it?  No BSOD at all, just shuts down.. Any Idea's, please help?

p.s. the motherboard is brand new (oem)

Apparently the same problem. He took it to a repair shop and he was told it was a chip overheating causing it to shut down. The price he was told to repair or replace was too much, so he asked me if I could replace it for him. I checked the battery, power adapter both individualy, the fan is working good. I discharged it and it still shuts down. I noticed it has 2 different mem chips, so I'm going to test and pull one separately to test that. I thought it was unusual to see 2 different brands of memory, but the same speed. I have been tinkering for years and this one has me stumped. Usually a cpu works or doesn't, I tried safe mode and it does the same thing, so this is why I'm leaning towards reformatting. Any help is appreciated!

I pulled each memory stick out separately, it's still doing the same thing.. Am I correct in saying about the cpu, could it be going bad?
