Acer Aspire E5 573 i3 - Fan on ALL the time.

I've just bought this laptop. The fan is on ALL the time.  Is this normal?

Also, I get tingling and aching in my mouse hand/arm which lasts for hours after I stop using it.  Does anyone else get this please?

I don't mean to sound like your mother/father, and I'm not a doctor......but sitting for long hours at a computer does increase your risk for heart attack.  Perhaps you should seek out the advice of a physician.  Tingling and pain in hand and arm can be a warning sign.

When I get a new computer or gadget, I'm quite guilty of spending way too much time sitting.

Edit:  Sorry, I don't have any ideas on the fan.

Hi thanks for your comment.  I don't think it is a health concern, because I was fine with my old 5 year old Packard Bell laptop. I got the tingling/aching as soon as I tried this one and Toshiba and Lenovo! It must be the way they are made these days I guess?!

Well, I have solved the tingling issue. It was the wired mouse.  I've bought a USB wireless mouse and problem solved. Smiley Happy

Still got fan on all the time and the HD is noisy actually.

If you're trying to rule out hardware problem, you can backup your important personal files, and then reset you PC to factory condition using Acer recovery software.

    Also check for BIOS update.

Does putting it back to factory settings mean removing the Window 10 operating system? (and all the programmes)

Yes, it means putting your PC back to factory condition......the condition when you first took it out of the box.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can try to make a USB factory default recovery drive (recovery media) first.

    If go back isn't available

    • Check to see if you can restore your PC to factory settings. This will reinstall the version of Windows that came with your PC and remove personal files, apps and drivers you installed, and any changes you made to settings. Go to Settings > Update & security > Recovery > Reset this PC > Get started and look for Restore factory settings.

    • If you have installation media and a product key for your previous version of Windows, you can use them to go back. Get the details in the Use installation media to reinstall Windows section of this topic.

Thank for advice, but I've only had this one for a week and it has been noisy since I took it out of the box, so putting back to factory settings won't help.  I don't want to  mess like that cos I will probably send it back.

    Thanks.

When you say the fan is on all the time and is noisy, is it running full speed all the time or is it making rattling noises or?

There just seems to be constant background noise.  Difficult to describe - as if there is updating going on all the time.  Sometimes its like morse code and/or traction engine.

It does not kick in and out as I have been used to.  I have always had quiet laptops before.  So difficult to find a good laptop.  HP is noisy, Toshiba has an intermittent HD clicking, as has Lenovo.

I've decided that this is normal for Acer, but no good for me.  Not a patch on my old Packard Bell.

    Thanks.

I have 3 Acer laptops and none are noisy. They are all very quiet. The fan only becomes louder for a very short tim occasionally. If the  fan runs at full speed all the time there is something wrong.

A noisy HDD usually means something is wrong with it.

I believe you can still return it for refund or replacement from the seller or Warranty from Acer.
