Acer V7 582PG - Two main issues after Windows 10 updates

Hi There,

I am a long term reader of the forum but a recent subscriber. I'd like to first say that i have already tried all solutions suggested here and wherever else so if anyone has a different way to work i'd be glad.

Since Win10 update my V7 has has two unsolved issues and these issues are by now rooted in the machine behavior even after the last November Win 10 update.

Problem one: Machine won't shut down completely. You need to keep hardware button pressed for X seconds to shut it down. Also, sometimes button pressing won't start up the machine immediately (blue led comes up in X seconds)

Problem 2: Booting times are endless, with countless black screens in between the ACER boot screen and the actual moment in which the machine becomes usable. IRST drivers from Intel are not installable, IRST file driver from Acer tells me that a newer driver is already installed. No RST icons shown on the tray, and the machine behaves oddly in any case till it starts. Once started, everything works fine.

When battery-fed (outside home) often it refuses to start up for X seconds to then randomly startup.

I also think the two issues are related because if i deactivate the fast boot, sometimes (but not always) the machine shuts down properly. However, after one or two times it restarts not to shut down properly

I'd like to thank anyone in advance for any suggestions.

Eric

Regarding Problem 1:  Have you read this?

    http://community.acer.com/t5/Windows-10/Aspire-V7-582PG-won-t-shut-completely-down/td-p/377288

Edit: Also, check to see if you have latest BIOS for your computer (and update when it's stable...if necessary)

    To find current BIOS version...

    1. Right click on windows start button

    2. Left click on run

    3. Type msinfo32

    4. click ok

Edit: Here is another discussion about it......

    Thanks Jordan,

Bios was updated before (i check regularly on Acer website).

On the other solution (Intel management engine) i got the error message "Fatal error during installation". This also occurred in other cases before.

Any clue? I would prefer to avoid a complete reinstall.

Also, when i go to see the specific driver in Device management i get

    Device is working properly

But then i go check in EVENTS and...13"Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&SUBSYS_079B1025&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0 had a problem starting."

    Driver Name: oem127.inf

    and on the installation.

Driver Management concluded the process to install driver heci.inf_amd64_1ca7f76401f927b8\heci.inf for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9C3A&SUBSYS_079B1025&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0 with the following status: 0x0.

Bear in mind i also had done a "Roll back to old driver" several times in the past (i had already checked all posts in the Acer forum)

Hopefully someone else can give you some suggestions.  Personally, I would reset to factory defaults or clean install if I had something like that happening.

Make sure you create a USB factory default recovery drive (factory default recovery media) before proceeding with any suggestions. Also make a backup of your Apps and Drivers......and of course backup your important personal files. Smiley Wink

That is exactly what i wanted to avoid. I need the machine for reports and translating work and reinstalling all software will be a too long process for me to afford this now. I guess i'll do it when i take it to install a bigger Msata SSD but later on will sell this one and will buy something that has better driver updates. Really not happy about this PC. Looks too shaky and Acer service wasn't of any good help either....considering i am in Taiwan, that's twice a capital sin.

I was going to change my 8951G with a Vnitro but i guess i'll go for something else in that area too. Acer really has a huge issue with updating drivers.

    Thanks Jordan

i think both issues are from those 2 error messages.

they refer to Intel Chipset and IME.

i would try a windows 10 refresh, keeping your files and programs, to check if using default windows drivers can fix those issues.

keep in mind to do a full backup of your system (you can create a system image, so in the worst case you can reload your PC as it was at the moment of the system image), you will need a good external USB HDD.
