VN7-572-500R: HDD inserting, not upgrading

Hello

I recently bought a VN7-572-500R (Core i5 6th generation). IT has a SSD only, the place for HDD is free.

So I want to use this free place and insert an 1TB HDD drive. This drive needs to be connected
to the motherboard. There is an small connector named HDD1 on the motherboard.

But the cable from this connector to the HDD is not present, as there has not been put any HDD into this laptop, I do an insert, not an upgrade.

1. Is it possible at all to put an HDD into this machine, by connecting it to this "HDD1" connector?

2. Where do I get this cable from? Various videos say this cable is of type M.2, SATA III, type 2280 at other VN7 models.

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hello again

The HDD is now inserted and works fine with the Nitro laptop.

    I inserted a Seagate Spinpoint M9T, with 2TB.

The most complex part in the whole process is openning the Laptop.

Once the keyboard part has come off the body, it is not necessary

to disconnect its cables from the motherboard. It is enough to insert the HDD

into the cushioned place at the lower rigth hand corner of the box.

The HDD needs to be connected with the cable from Acer spare parts to

the port labeled HDD1 on the mortherboard.

On first system boot thereafter, the new HDD will not appear automaitcally

in Win 10. It has to be manually connected via system administration.

    Hello

Inbetween I got hold of the Acer support. They told me that it should be possible to do this upgrade.

The necessary cable and HDD cage I should order at a local ACER spare part shop/dealer.

None of these have the VN7-572-500R in their lists on the inernet, though these lists are exhaustive.

So I left an email at one of them, asking for the two pieces.

    Hello

Acer spare part dealer came back with an answer:

    • Required cable is spare part no. 50.G6GN1.006
    • No cage needed
    • HDDs which can be connected:

      - 2.5-inch, 9.5 mm, 5400/7200 rpm SATAIII hard disk drive (HDD)

      - 500/1000/2000/3000 GB

I ordered the spare part. Expected delivery in 3 weeks.

As soon as the HDD is installed and tested, I will update this message.

    Regards, Thomas
