Using

XR341CK monitor and Radeon 295x2, cable is mini display port 1.2a:   http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CAGDSW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

Connect monitor, using latest AMD drivers, CCC immediately recognizes freesync capacity which I check and is now listed in active.

Monitor OSD lists it in "Normal" not "Freesync" mode.

Tried rearranging cables in card, no change.

Resolution to max no problem. Otherwise functional. Not noticing tearing.

What gives? Any and all help MUCH APPRECIATED!

Hello. I have the same monitor, and I am using regular DP cable that came with the monitor, and 290x. Mine is also shows "Normal" but FreeSync is enable in CCC, and I can tell it is working, I see no tearing. I think you are fine, as I dont know how else to check it.

    I have another problem though:

The monitor is set to turn off in 10 minuts of inactivity. But it never does, the screen goes black, but the monitor itself never shuts off. Looking unsuccesfully so far for a solution.

As of 10 minutes ago the problem just went away.

I went to the menu, changed the brightness from 80 to 65 or so and voila- FreeSync mode enabled.

VERY strange. I would suggest trying to change some basic settings and see if it works.

Just sent mine back today. The replacement and the original have the same problem.

(Please note I have the Freesync version. I am sharing my experience on the batch quality of these monitors)

Fragmachine is describing. ESCPECIALLY the flickering.

I have tried every combination of settings imaginable to no avail.

I hope this can be remedied by a firmware update ASAP as I am losing my patience.

All we can hope for is a user deployable hotfix from acer.

Wether or not that will happen at all is doubtful.

Alright, I have a discovery to share myself.

It's nothing major, and it also pertains to the Freesync Version.

If you download the AMD windmill demo, you can switch between Freesync and Normal mode.

When you enable Freesync, the top portion of the screen changes color and flickers.

Not sure if this helps any, but Freesync definitely causes issues with the top inch or so of the screen

    Here is a video I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5cCK16EbZ0

@Samg381 No disrespect, not by any means, but @Drawmonster has a point.  I just watched your video and it appears , at least on camera, this is a VERY minor issue compared to those suffering issues with the Predator x34.  And to be honest, when people start talking  about the Acer 34CK monitor, it makes the thread very confusing.  You  may come up with a solution for your monitor and neglect to state yours is the non Gsync model.  We may, in turn, think that the solution applies to this forum.  Therefore, it becomes confusing.  To be honest, if  you have to constantly click the Freesync button on and off just to see your issue  and it does not affect gameplay (screen tearing or flickering) while doing so, I'd say, if that is your only issue, you have a good monitor.  That particular issue, again, if it  is my only one, would not be a reason I would contact Acer or RMA the monitor.  Again, I mean no disrespect.

From my experiences calling in, they treat the Gsync and Freesync versions quite similarly.

Not sure if its because of a lack of information or what, but I offered my assistance nonetheless.

We all paid a similar price and are all having very similar issues with our very similar monitors.

I see no reason why we should segregate our monitors to different threads when the Freesync ones will simply be abandoned.

@heyguyslol None taken. The video just shows the issue in the upper portion of the monitor (which is much more aparent in person) I posted my links to the other issues I was having earlier on in the thread.

Unfortunately since these topics were moved they will likely die. Quite a shame that nothing will be done about this issue.

Edit: Just as I imagined, we are silenced and the thread doomed to fade away.

    Shame on you acer.
