why the acer iconia a501 does not has ics update planned ?

in 2013 Archives

I read in different sites that in Australia and Canda, their table was update to ics.

This are some examples

 

 

 

 

I am in Uruguay, latin america and I foud this page http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14634/kw/a501/related/1

 

 

Is this correct ? I will not have ics in my table ?

    the ICS update did not support the 3G service.

    But in Australia, Canada, and even more countries Acer release the update as the links I pasted said.

     

    Besides this, Acer is working to solve this problem, or has not intention to work on this issue ?

      So, the a501 models were different in Australia, and ALL other areas that RECEIVED the update?

    And why is the nothing being mentioned about the 3G compatibility otherwise?  I still smell something going on here...;-Deano

      One more point of information here: Canada did NOT get the update with any carriers.  There is only ONE instance that I saw or heard of ANYONE getting the update other than that ONE person.

    It seems that SOME companies would like us to BELIEVE that it was taken care of.  But, I have seen no PROOF of ANY OTA update in CANADA othere than a single screen shot that has been posted again and again and again... ;-Deano

    Ok, we can assume that Canada did not get the update, what happened in Europe ? In the link from Acer http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14634/kw/a501/related/1 does not post information from Europe.

     

    In Google there are several reports that people gets the update !

     

    Although this, I can not imagine Acer a big and respect company that  could not solve the problem with ICS update !!!

     

    Also if you look in ebay, you can found a lot of generic China tables, with ICS installed, so you were told me, not to trust in Acer, in the future buy generic computer things wich came with the last software ?

       Silly me. I come from "the olden days" when a company name was something to be repected and supported by good products and support.  I know by now I should realize that the same no-name shmo company in China likely MAKES the products with all the big names on it.  But, as you said, a big, powerful company like Acer SHOULD be able to fix a minor compatibilty issue with a product.  All I need to know is who makes what tablet for who and does ANYBODY support a product for more that a friggin' week??  Still no response from Acer to any inquries. Oh, OTHER than "no update planned".

    Still sounds like "ef hugh" to me....  ;-Deano

    I'm in New Zealand on ICS and 3G has just stopped working when I removed the sim briefly while loading the micro-sd with music.

    I think I will have to go back to 3.2 if I can to get 3G working again.

    I tested the sim, it works fine, but my a501 doesn't read it at all.

    Do as I did give up on Acer ever supporting the Ionia a501 give it to your kid and never buy another Acer product again the go out and get the Asus Tf700t
