    earlmatthews,

You can try to reinstall the driver to see if that helps.  The intel lan driver for your model is here:

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

Here are some other suggestions from microsoft:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/943104

How did you reset your computer?

You can also try making sure your computer is connected to the electical outlet properly.  Or try a different electrical outlet (surge protector).

Please post if none of those things fixes your problem.

Edit: Also try unplugging your modem from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Hi, this is a common problem with windows and intel driver, what seems to happen is windows installs the wrong driver or just replaces the driver on it own, the mix up is windows installs 82579LM driver for the 82579v network controller, check in the device manager list for your network driver, if it showing the "LM" right mouse click on it and select uninstall, then at the top of the device manager screen click on the icon to scan for hardware changes and windows should reinstall the 82579V driver, intel claims to have fixed this issue in the past but from my experience this is not so and will randomly happen but is an easy fix.

Let us know if this helps and fixes your problem.

    Thanks for your response.

I was away for the weekend but I left the computer on. now that I return, I found that the modem and the computer are communicating. there seen to be no more driver problem there, I could now access the Internet. I do not know how it happened and i'm quite sure that no one had access to the computer while I was away.

Nevertheless, I must say thanks to all you kindhearted people out there who give of your time and expertise in such a selfish way to help your fellow men.

    Thanks a million.

    Earl.
