Hello, I don't have your system but it is about the same as most other computers..... If your Laptop don't have a DVD/CD drive you will need to use the one that you connect with USB and then install the Recovery Disc that you made.

Turn on the computer and let it boot the your DVD/CD drive. Then it will ask what you want to do. I would guess one of the options would be to do a FULL install. After 30min to an hour your software and things should be installed and booted back into your computer. If you have a MSN or Microsoft Account I would log in with that so it can put your things together for your system.

Then I would Right click the Start/Windows button and go to Device Manager. I would then look to see if your computer installed all the items that you need for your computer to run. If you see a ! next to an item there was a problem with the Driver. I would Make sure you have the drivers from Acers website for your computer before you start, I t makes it easier. I would unpack them and then Burn then to a CD/DVD so you don't have to worry about your WIFI or ETHO drivers not installing.

If you want you could do like I have and make a File Server that keeps all the drivers for all my Computers. even have some of the Old MB drivers from my OLDER systems. Anyway in the event that the Wifi installed or ETHO you could point to the drive to get all other software you need. Also if you have a Thumb Drive you could use that as your Driver drive too. Only thing bad about that is if for some reason it don't work it could be put on a CD/DVD rom.

Ok to recap..... If your machine has a DVD/CD Drive put in the Repair CD/DVD (Or plug in your USB DVD/CD and Load Media)

Turn on and your machine should Boot to your Repair disc.

Pick Full install and Pick the New drive, It should then Make the Partitions that is needed for the install.

after 30 or so Minutes you will be prompted to log into Windows. If your using your system with a Microsoft account it may ask if you want to DL (your name) for all the Apps and Pictures for Backgrounds and what not. Pick yes.

Then. Right Click Start/Windows button. Device Manager and look at all the hardware make sure all installed right. May even want to check updates for your Graphics if you have a older system so things work right.

Hope this has helped some and that you can get your system back up and running in no time.

I just installed a New 1TB in my Acer Aspire XC603 so I just went through this myself. After trying to Clone my Drive I had to just do a Clean INstall in the end.

thank you for the reply. I did make the recovery on a usb flash drive so i guess i would use it instead

    of a disk.

  • Yes as stated before, Just using your Flash Drive. It could be that you would have to change settings in your BIOS to boot from your USB. Not in all cases but incase it does load your BIOS by F2 or DEL button when you start your computer. Then go to the part that talks about BOOT. Make sure USB is one of the BOOT Options.

Hope this Helps let us know how things go

You can just press F12 key at boot (if boot list option is enabled on BIOS) and select the USB flash drive as bootable device.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
