acer a1-830 not charging at all
My tablet will not charge, it discharges when I plug it in. I have been using the same plug and cord since I bought it so it's not that.. I used the plug on my other device and it is fine.... I did notice that I have to hold the cord up and to the left a bit for my tablet to connect... Is it possibly my tablet's charge port is crooked?

that a battery with over 25% of charge is better, if possible.
nothing else.

try to use another USB cable if possible, seems that the A1-830 microUSB port went loose.

ty for a quick reply Ironfly. I tried different cables, no good for me. I was afraid of this, the charge port must be broken.
I either have to fix it myself or pay someone to do it...

check if the middle part (where USB contacts are) on microUSB port on your tablet, is centered; if not with a toothpic try to gently move it a little, then connect your USB cable and check if it charges.

Does this require opening it up?

Nope.
just genlty insert the toothpick on the microUSB port (between the metal cage and the bottom part of the contacts path) and move a little to move up the middle section.
be very gentle!!!

I wiggled it a bit in there, didn't appear to be anything wrong, but that's just me... I want to avoid taking it to best buy... I tried to open it and now I have a small crack in my screen... They won't touch it now.... I though opening would be easier....
Thank you for help, it was appreciated...

You welcome.

It seems to charge now, but only when the tablet is off.... That's odd....
When the tablet is on it discharges, I watched it go from 25% down to 19% in about 5mins.
Any ideas?

try a factory reset, probably some application is draining a lot of battery.
do a backup of your personal data first, then:
settings/backup&reset - factory data reset

There are a couple of things that can result in fast discharge rates. It might be a rogue app that's got the CPU and video gonig full blast. It might be just that the charge indicator is out of calibration. A factory reset should fix the first one, a battery calibration should fix the second.

if you have synced with google account, you will able to restore:
some system settings
applications
contacts
pictures (if you agreed to upload it to google drive)

So then most of my games should be okay, because I synced with google... Not that I couldn't do without them... Would just suck to lose my progress...
Thank you again IronFly, you've been a terriffic help to me...
If I think of anything else I won't hesitate to ask...
