Prior to jumping straight in, has anyone made the migration and were there any problems?

When ACER say there may be drive issues, what kind of driver issues do they refer to?

Readig the information from frin WIndow, it refers to a small new windows icon to click to start the installation, which I do not have. Is this due to the lack of driver support from ACER?

There are several reasons why the icon might not be displayed, and Acer isn't involved in any of them. Smiley Happy

If your machine is on an Active Directory domain the icon doesn't show. If your Windows license is a volume license (typical in a larger corporation) the icon won't show up, even if you are not joined to a domain. If you haven't done all the updates from Microsoft (including optional ones) the icon might not show up. If your processor isn't compatible with Windows 10 (and 8.1) the icon won't show up.

If you get the icon after doing all the updates and such, clicking on it will sometimes tell you that you aren't able to update due to a driver issue. In a lot of those cases you csan update, you just have to install an older version of the driver after the update completes. In those cases you do the update through the Media Creation Tool instead of through the Windows Update process.

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't have an Active Directory domain. It is not a volume license.

In the past I have accepted standard Windows updates. But, by following your recommendations and including optional updates I am now able to load Windows 10 and I have the reserve ICON on my machine. So, thanks for the help.

Therefore, if reading this you have a simiar problem, I would suggest that you install all OPTIONAL UPDATES, rebbot and see whay happens.

My only concern is WHY is the Aspire V3-771 not on the list of machines that are compatable to Windows 10.

Heheh, I keep promising myself to make a copy'n'paste for this... The list you are referring to isn't a list of machines that are compatibile with Windows 10, it's a list of machines that require custom drivers that Acer says they'll provide those drivers. If your machine is one of the great majority that don't need to have custom drivers developed it won't be on the list, even though it may be perfectly compatible with Windows 10.
