How do I get my Switch 10E to boot from a CD/DVD (secure boot is disabled)

The other day i tried to get my acronis true Image CD to boot on my Aspire Switch 10E in order to image my system partition for safety reasons, but was unable to do so after several tries and mounting aggravation.

After this i tried other bootable media but it just was not happening for me.  All these media boot on my other laptop that runs windows 8.1

The secure boot option is disabled and my USB CD ROM is selected as my first boot device but niether efi enabled boot media nor other are booting

PS - when the laptop boots up one can see the boot sector of the media being recognised (blinking) but the cd/dvd just never boots of this

Yes, i have upgraded to windows 10 Home and am not aware of the boot capability before this upgrade.

I believe my laptop/convertible is a 32 bit UEFI boot security

Thanks for ANY help on this

The UEFI boot requires a signed boot image, and signed by Acer or Microsoft. In order to boot from an unsigned image you have to get out of UEFI mode and into legacy boot mode. I don't have access to a 10E, so I'm afraid I don't have a step through for getting into legacy boot mode, but maybe this will be enough info for you to Google it... Smiley Happy

But I have disabled secure boot (there is no legacy mode in ther bios).  This is something to dfo with a 32 bit UEFI of which i have very little knowledge.

to boot, the bootable media need an UEFi 32 bit signed file; without this file, you will not be able to boot, even with secure boot disabled.

if you need a system image, i suggest you to use the integrated Microsoft tool.

press windows key logo + s

    type

    file history

    click on the icon

wait a little, then on the bottom left click on "system image backup".

To how does one get this UEFI 32 signed file?

No I do not need a systen image, but what if I need to use a bootable Acronis Disk Director to check partition structure etc and maybe in an emergency one day an Active Boot suite Live Cd for data recovery etc.  That kind of stuff...

How would i get about doing this??

    Thanks

you must ask Acronis if they can do such file.
