Aspire E1-572 ultrabook upgrade: screen+ssd+8 gb ram

My ultra-cheap ultrabook E1-572-6870 build:

The E1-572 is a great notebook for the money, but its low-res TN-panel screen made it almost unusable without an external display. And its a shame to run an i5 Haswell processor on only 4 gb of RAM with a mechanical harddisk.

I Upgraded the screen with a model LP156WF4(SP)(U1) 1080p IPS display.

Since I couldn't find any threads on the internets about whether or not I could upgrade the screen on this thing, I decided to take a risk and go for it. After a little research and guess work, I narrowed it down to the model above. It plugged in and fired up like a charm. The only tricky part is removing the bezel. There are two hidden screws under black stickers on the hinges. Be warned that some of the tabs that hold bezel to the top shell broke off when I took it apart. I ended up using a couple dabs (sparingly) of superglue to tack it back so that the seam would stay closed.

Also, I added a 250 gb SSD and an extra 4 gb stick of ram.

My notebook is now a joy to use instead of the headache inducing machine it once was. Totally worth the extra investment. You would have to shell out $1000+ to get these kinds of specs stock.
