Hi, after i upgraded to Windows 10, my screen does not auto-rotate.  I'm using an Aspire R13.

In the Action Center, the "Rotation Lock" button is greyed out.

In the Settings, under System, and then under Display, the "Lock rotation of this display" is also greyed out.

Any solutions?

Thanks!

Hi, when I visit the Acer website to download the driver, I do not see the G Sensor listed.

My model is a Aspire R7-371T-72TC.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks!

I have the same problem with the auto rotate since my update to windows 10.

I tried to install the G sensor driver from the R7 but no result.

Any help would be much appreciated.

That's a nice try but I already have seen this one and I don't have this option when I go to the display setting. Unfortunatly, I can't put a screen shot here. I think there is a problem with the G sensor driver or the display driver and that is why windows don't give this option.

Another Problem could be the Windows 8 N Version. "Media Feature Pack" solved the Problem with the Sensor. Furthermore i asked acer support to help and i should tell them the hardware IDs which you can find in device manager under properties details. But i still wait for an answer. I will tell you if i know what else we can do.

    Thanks for your help  Kathreen.

I tried to install the Media Feature Pack for windows 10 N but no change.

I also have sent a message to the Acer support team showing the problem with screen shots. Let's wait for their answer.

Hi, that didn't work for me either.

Under System, and then Display, the "Lock Rotation of this display" is greyed out so I can't change the setting (which is set to "On.")

In the Action Center, my "Rotation Lock" button is also greyed out.

    Any help is appreciated!

I spoke with the Acer technical support on the phone.

2 solutions : go back to windows 8 (these guys are very funny) or wait for the appropriate driver that should come one day, we are not sure (I guess he was speaking about the G sensor driver).

Be careful, it seems we have a warranty working for windows 8 but not for windows 10. So he said, go back to windows 8 within the 30 days after windows 10 installation.

Not sure I understand the Warranty issue.

Is going back to Windows 8 really an option?  I would suspect that it's better to be "inconvenienced" for awhile.  I'm wondering if I will be notified when the updated drivers come out.  Would that be part of a Windows Update?

    Thanks!

From what I understood about this warranty thing is that Acer is not obliged to deliver a driver for windows 10.

Their support is only mandatory for windows 8 for the R7-371T.

So we have to wait for the good will of microsoft to deliver a driver... Smiley Frustrated

What is really strange is that, as Kathreen showed in a previous message, Acer has delivered a new driver for the R3-471T.

Thanks.  I'll wait for the driver and hope that Acer or Microsoft provides soon!  Hope I receive some kind of notification!!

Interested that the "Driver and Manual" site for the Aspire R7-371T does list any drivers for a G Sensor???

The rotate lock is on by default in Windows 10, if you have not check there. Here is an article we created that talks about it.

Justin, as you can see in the screen shot below from my computer display setting, I don't even have the possibility to set the "lock rotation on this display" to ON or OFF.

I can only set manually the orientation of the screen.

    display Settings.jpg

And this is how looks my device manager : I guess some drivers are missing.

    Justin,

As I mentioned in earlier posts, the option is "greyed out" and I do NOT have the ability to change the rotation lock to the off position.

    gsaz2,

Did you place your tablet into pad/tablet mode, our R13 was greyed out until I placed it into pad/tablet mode.

    dadakiki,

You might want to think about trying a repair on your system, that is a lot of unknowns, possibly from a bad install of files when upgrading. It might be in your best interest to go back to 8.1 and then upgrade again honestly, though that is not what you want to hear.

Interesting, if I change to tablet mode, but leave the Acer if a laptop configuration, the "Rotation Lock" remains greyed out, as does the "Lock rotation on this display" button in the System/Display screen.

However, once I change to table mode, if I flip the Acer into the Displayh configuration, or the Tablet configuration, then the buttons are no longer Greyed Out and I can change them.

I would think whomever set this up would simply allow the buttons to be used regardless of how the Acer if configured (Laptop, Display, or Tablet).  In any event, now I know how to get it to work.

Thanks so much for the help!  Smiley Happy

    Justin,

I did what you said. Came back to windows 8.1 then install again windows 10.

But, this time, I just let everything like it is (I didn't installed the latest drivers from the acer website).

And... it' working. Of course you need to go to tablet mode to change the auto rotation lock.

    Problem solved.

SOLVED without the need to reinstall windows.

in the search windows, type SERVICES

when you are there, look for the sensor (Sensor data service, Sensor monitoring service,Sensor service), right click on click start, go to properties, startup type chose automatic, i had it disabled!
