Predator G3620 GPU Upgrade Issue

I've had my Predator for a little over three years now, I think.  It's been great - no problems or anything....until a few days ago.  I was playing a game and I heard a loud POP and the smell of burning Smiley Happy  It turns out the video card stopped working (GT645 I think).  I had a friend verify that it didn't work in his machine and I ordered a new card off Amazon - a Geforce GTX 750 TI.

I checked the PSU (500w) and the connector types.  It seemed like a good fit.

When I put the new card in - the ACER logo appears and the text 'Press del to enter menu.  f12 for boot options' (or something like this) - just like usual, only in a higher resolution than before.  Sounds great - only...the system hangs there.  After ~30 seconds, it beeps once.  Then another 30 seconds it beeps once more.  30 Seconds after that, the screen goes black and it just sits there forever.

I've checked the connections, removed/re-seated the card, tried the other 6-pin plug from the PSU, and all give the same result.  The card has power and is outputting a signal, so I didn't think it was defective, and my friend was able to verify that it works in his PC.

I found people suggesting to uninstall the Windows drivers of the old card.  I didn't think that would help - but I did it anyway Smiley Happy  I dual boot, so I went into both and uninstalled the GT645 drivers, but that didn't help.

I also found people claiming this was related to secure boot.  My bios doesn't have any option for secure boot - I even watched the Acer YouTube video on it, so I know where it would be.  I have the P01-A2 version and the newer version available on the Acer website says 'Not for upgrades' and, indeed, if I try to upgrade it, it fails because the sizes don't match.

Is there any way to install a new video card into my G3620?  Will only certain ones work?  The GT645 that I have is an OEM - so they seem hard to find.  At least on Amazon they were.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    RobDude16,

Sorry to hear about the video card issues. I assume this has Windows 7 since you said secure boot is not an option. We didn't test that video card on this system, but power supply wise it should be able to handle it.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS to defaults to rule that out?

From the beep code error you are giving it sounds like it could be memory related. Video card related is usually one long beep with two short beeps, then repeat; whereas memory is a continuous one long beep.
