Can't upgrade BIOS Iconia W3

Hi,

I tried to continue an old post but I didn't get any response.  I am not sure how much Acer reviews old posts.

I have the Acer Iconia W3-810 and the battery shows at 100% and Not Charging.  But as soon as I remove power the unit shuts off.  Seems like the battery is dead yet it shows as fully charged.

I have updated all drivers.  I am at BIOS 1.02.  I have tried to update BIOS to 1.07.  It seems to execute, but then just causes a boot. I tried 1.03, 1.04, 1.05.  All same result.  Is there some way to start the BIOS upgrade outside of Windows?  I have not been able to find anything like this.

I have tried running at CMD prompt with Admin authority.  Seems like updating BIOS should not be such a mystery.

Help is appreciated.

Thanks.

i was able reset the factory defsult security and then ran the BIOS upgrade and it applied the BIOS upgrade.

Sadly the reason I was trying to do this was because it was supposed to fix the problem that it would not charge nor run on battery.  It only runs on electric plug in.

How do I get a battery replacement?

IIRC the BIOS update was for batteries which displayed the wrong status, i.e, 11% full when fully charged. If yours doesn't work at all when on the battery it's likely either a fully dead battery (when they get too low they will no longer charge) or a problem with the battery cable coming loose. Have you ever had it open? Are you comfortable opening it yourself?
