Gateway NE56R10u no video.

How do I force video to ext monitor port during boot, or is it automatic when cable is plugged in?

Laptop seems to be booting fine, but both screen and external monitor not displaying any video at all.

Possible bad motherboard?

    Hello,

    You have to press [Fn]+[F4]:

Display toggle - Switches display output between the display screen, external monitor (if connected) and both.

Thank you very much for the response Larent_14 .

Does the bios automatically switch video output during POST to an attached external monitor, or is it necessary to key [Fn]+[F4] during POST (or some other keystrokes?) ?

(I'm familiar with [Fn]+[F4] running Windows, but it doesn't seem to work during POST. I tried [Fn]+[F4] multiple times last week during POST and it didn't work. No video on either screen. Trying to determine if I have a bad motherboard video section.)

    Hello,

    [Fn]+[F4] only works under Windows.

Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

    Hello,

Your laptop has an Intel HD graphic integrated to the processor (no graphic board).

    There are several causes:

    - The CPU/GPU is damaged (not very expensive)

    - The bios is corrupted (blank screen).

    Some questions:

1- Do you hear the fan and the HDD when you startup the laptop?

2- Do you hear beeps on startup?

    Hello Scott,

    Thanks for your precious feedback!

The Intel graphic HD works with the shared memory. I haven't thought about this one! Grrr!

It was a pleasure to help you!

    You're welcome
