Hi all!

I have a question. I have had my Acer Aspire T for some reason my Windows 8.1 had a glitch so I had to have it reinstalled which wiped everything off my HD.  I was very happy with my computer before this happened, but since it has run very slow and even slower when I downloaded Chrome.  Can someone tell me what might have happened and what I can do about it?    Thanks.

Computer spects are :

Windows 8.1 64bit

Intel Core iS processor 4460

2TB HD

8 GBDDR3 Memory

    Seadreamer6,

When you say that your computer is running very slow, do you mean that your internet and web browsing is slow?  Or do you mean that everything on your computer runs slow and/or slow response time?

I'm so sorry JordanB, I guess I should have clarified that. Yes it is my internet/web brower, while I'm in a certain site.

If it's just one or two websites, I honestly don't think it's related to your computer.  Especially after you did a factory reset.

You can run a virus scan if you want, but more than likely it's related to the website itself, or your Internet Service Provider (and possibly their DNS caching or lack thereof).  You can power cycle your modem/router too (unplug your modem/router from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds)

If you just did a factory reset, sometimes you have to go to windows update and check for updates to expedite the process.  There's ususally a few rounds of Windows Updates that are required.....and of course some of them require you to restart your computer.

Thanks JordanB.  I have checked for updates to Windows, drives and everything else I could think of.  I also have run scans with nothing being found.  I use Charter Spectrum as my carrier (suppose to be the fastest).  Anyway, I don't know if PepperFlash has anything to do with it or not, but that is the only thing that is on it, no other flash player.  Thanks for your time and help.

To date I have yet to find an answer to the problem.  I am just trying to manage as best I can.  Most of the time logging out and logging back in or if I get real frustrated just quiting and forgetting about it until later.

You can try updating your BIOS. And your wireless driver.

When troubleshooting, it's always best not to use any third party add ons or plugins.

You should also make a USB recovery drive if you haven't already.

I'm not sure of your model #?  I'm assuming TC-605??  If it's TC-605, I noticed that Acer sometimes uses a Realtek wireless module and sometimes an Atheros/Qualcomm Wireless module.

I suppose you could try to reset to factory defaults one more time, but this time just use the software that Acer provided for a couple days.  If everything works ok with the default setup, then you can slowly add third party stuff.  But you have to add one thing at a time, so you can figure out what might be causing it.

I always run my "Acer Care Center" updater and it says everything is up to date, even drivers.  And it is a TC605-UB12.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, but still having the same results.  So I may just have to learn to live with it.  Windows 10 will be coming out in a few days and if it's any worse then not sure what to do.

Ok.  I don't know anything about Acer Care Center.  I doubt if the Acer Care Center would alert you to update your BIOS, but I guess it's possible.  The latest BIOS is P11.B3 for our computers.  I have two TC-605's and they are running fine on internet both wired and wireless.

You should also call Charter to see if they can look at your modem logs.....to see if there is a problem.

My cable internet is terrible when it's really hot outside due to the attentuation (and lousy equipment/amplifiers in my area).  As soon as it hits 85 degrees outside, it's nothing but trouble. But it works perfectly during the morning and evening hours. Fortunately I have a backup DSL connection.

But it could be lots of things going on with your Charter that they will be able to detect by looking at your modem logs/stats.

Edit: Charter can see you modem logs when you talk to them on the phone.  They don't have to come to your house to see your modem logs.

Edit2: Here is the BIOS FAQ link.  Since I don't have your exact model #, it would be better to follow the link below, as I can't be completely sure of the BIOS version on your computer.
