android format microSD to FAT32 only, as far as i know, no other options.

if you need other filesystem, you must format the microSD card with a PC.

Sorry I need to be more clear.

I have an Acer Iconia a1-840fhd and the question is how to format micro SD cards on this tablet as there do not seem to be ay options for that in the tablets settings?  On other tablets and phones, there is alwyas an option to erase and format the micro sd card somewhere' in the setting menu, but not on on this Acer tablet.

FYI - According to the manual, this Acer table supports micrSD FAT, FAT32, exFAT and NFTS file system.

yes, it supports that formats, but normally android devices format microSD to FAT32 only; also format will be automatically done once you inserted the microSD.

and from android 4.4 (at least on stock android rom as Acer use), only unmount and erase microSD are available under settings/storage.

The only problem is that this Acer device does NOT have the erase option in the settings, only unmount, so probably not stock entirely stock Android.    I do remember gettiig the option to format the very 1st time that I inserted the card as a pop-up notification, but never saw that after that even afer removal and reinserting the card.

about erasing, probably they changed, on my Acer 4.4 mobile phone i have the option.

about option to format.....you will never have it, the system will do it for you automatically once your insert the microSD.
