UEFI On = operating system not found

Hi all.  I'm working on an Acer e1-472p with Windows 8.1.  Swapped out the hard drive for SSD and added 4GB RAM.  After lots of hoops (including going to Legacy mode BIOS), I got the OS loaded.  As expected, it activated fine since licensing comes from the hardware nowadays (not some hand-typed key).  Would like to turn UEFI back on.  I changed the BIOS settings to Default, saved and rebooted, only to be greeted with operating system not found.  I googled this and several potential solutions came up.  Since all the screws and ribbon cables are re-attached, can someone recommend some safe things to try?  Note: can still get in to Windows and make changes in Legacy mode.

Thanks,

JB

you were not able to install under UEFI instead of Legacy?

converting Legacy to UEFI is an hard process:

Wow, I had no clue UEFI was another, "World" - kept thinking of it as switch to turn on/off security.  I don't believe UEFI was allowing me to do anything.  Between complete laptop disassembly to get to the RAM slot and WIndows 8 UEFI woes, this was the hardest upgrade I have ever done in my 20 years in computers.  Was just looking to use a faster drive and 4GB extra RAM for my girlfriend's birthday.  I guess she's going to have to live with a little less security and the much slower BIOS boot time.

Thanks for filling me in IronFly
