Yes, this is because the W10 install cleared the recovery partition or created a new one. You'll have to use your recovery disks/thumb drive to get back to where you were before doing the W10 install. If you skipped the step of creating a recovery set, and your model is the one with the larger drive that didn't come with a recovery set, you can purchase them from Acer ($20 I think).

If you are not willing to get the recovery media from Acer then you are pretty much stuck with downloading all the drivers from the Acer support site, finding the appropriate .iso from Microsoft, and installing from scratch. Once you have Windows back (you might have to use keyboard, mouse and a USB hub to do it) you can install the drivers to get most everything working.

i am in the same position as the OP, i reinstalled windows 8 to get rid of the bloatware (BIG MISTAKE), and now i have an unresponsive tablet...I did not create a recovery USB stick (ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE)...

I don't want to wait for acer to send me a usb recovery drive, and it's not $20, i was quoted $45 + shipping. If i were to create a USB recovery drive from another acer switch tablet, will it work on mine?

    Hello

Im not aware of a way to download 8.1 with bing as an ISO. so with the fact you cant use the device... i would download a copy of the windows 10 tech insider, along with the 8.1 drivers...

install the x86 from a bootable USB (created in Rufus) FAT 32 - GPT... connected using the USB A to Mini B F/M.

Delete all partitions and install... once in go to device manager and install all drivers that are required.. just running the .exe you download from Acer does not install all the required drivers, some get missed.

As mentioned above i did have to plug a Key board / mouse into the device to install drivers.

Once in the device i would then create a recovery to an external device.. or just keep the insider preview iso safe Smiley Happy Least you know have an OS on the switch..

I Promise It does work i am using one now with windows 10 tech preview to write this post. Should you get stuck please let me know the issue it has with WIFI..

    Regard

I would have thought the recovery disks were cheaper than buying a new OS license...
