Acer P3 performance issues

Hi all. Had a P3 for around 2 years but not used it a great deal (currently on Windows 8.1). I've noticed recently that the performance can be quite poor for general tasks. For example, starting up IE can be quite a while before it allows me to type in an address, trying to run certain functions from the OS cause a pause before anything happens. Given that I am not doing anything exceptional and that it has an SSD, I would expect everything to be fast.

I tried to do a refresh but it says that there are files missing. I noticed another poster hit this problem but I didn't see a solution. I was also thinking about a BIOS update (mine is the same as when I bought it) but the poster with the same problems as me also wanted to try this but didn't know how it should be installed.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can do a refresh or whether a BIOS update will improve things? I'm wondering if whether these problems are due to Windows 8.1.

Is anyone with this tablet planning on updating to Windows 10? Just wondering whether there will be drivers available or if things will just get worse!

Have you ever connected to a network drive? A lot of the time delays like that are caused by the system wanting to look at the network before doing what you want it to do. You can also give one of the other browsers a try, IE is notorious for taking a long time to initialise.

Never connect to a network drive and I don't think the blame should go on IE as I don't get this problem on my desktop or my work laptop. In addition, as mentioned some of the built in OS functionality is slow to start. Clearly there is a performance issue with the tablet. I looked at a few logs the other day and it mentioned a warning about the CPU being restrained by the BIOS, that is why I'm asking whether updating the BIOS is recommended.
